Tigerflex EPDM Truck Suction Hose — a lightweight, flexible suction hose for agricultural liquid handling, liquid manure, effluent irrigation, wastewater, and construction dewatering applications
The Tigerflex EPDM Truck Suction Hose is manufactured in the USA using EPDM rubber tube and polyethylene helix construction. It is well suited to water-based and mild chemical suction applications — agricultural liquid fertilisers, liquid manure and effluent handling, septic and wastewater, irrigation, and construction dewatering. Available in Blue and Green (identical in specification — colour choice only) in 32mm to 152mm ID (1-1/4" to 6").
Features
- EPDM tube provides a good combination of light weight, flexibility, durability, and resistance to water-based media including agricultural liquid fertilisers, liquid manure, and mild wastewater.
- Polyethylene helix maintains bore shape under vacuum, protects the hose cover from external wear, and allows the hose to slide easily over rough surfaces and around obstacles — reducing effort and wear on site.
- Convoluted outer cover increases hose flexibility for easier handling and routing in tight spaces.
- Cold Flex construction — hose remains flexible at sub-zero temperatures, well suited to winter operation in colder regions of NZ.
- Up to 22% more flexible than comparable competitor hoses (manufacturer test data) — particularly noticeable in cold weather handling.
- Tiger Blue and Tiger Green are identical in construction, materials, and performance specifications — colour is a cosmetic choice only, typically used to match company equipment or distinguish hose sets on site.
- Made in USA.
Construction
- Tube — EPDM rubber.
- Reinforcement — Polyethylene helix.
- Cover — Convoluted design for increased flexibility & external abrasion resistance.
Applications
- Agricultural liquid fertiliser and fertigation.
- Liquid manure handling and effluent irrigation.
- Septic and wastewater handling — widely used on septic pump-out trucks and for domestic and municipal wastewater transfer.
- Pumps, rental and construction dewatering.
- Hydrovac extension hoses.
- Marine bilge discharge.
- Trash pump suction.
Is Tigerflex EPDM suction hose right for my application?
Tigerflex EPDM is well suited to water-based suction applications where EPDM chemical compatibility is adequate. It is primarily a suction hose — it is not designed for sustained pressure delivery at rated working pressure.
Not suitable for: petroleum-based products including diesel, petrol, mineral oil, hydraulic oil, or aromatic hydrocarbons. EPDM rubber is not compatible with petroleum-based media and will degrade rapidly if used for these applications. If you need a suction hose for petroleum products, contact United Flexible to discuss an appropriate alternative.
If you are unsure whether this hose is compatible with your specific media, contact us and we will advise you.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Tiger Blue and Tiger Green?
Nothing — they are identical in construction, materials, and performance specifications. Tiger Blue and Tiger Green are the same hose in different colours. The colour choice is purely cosmetic, typically used to match company equipment colour schemes or to distinguish different hose sets on a work site. Note that not all sizes are available in both colours — Blue is available in 51mm, 76mm, and 102mm only. All other sizes are Green only.
Is Tiger Blue & Tiger Green EPDM suitable for fuel, diesel, or oil transfer?
No. EPDM rubber is not compatible with petroleum-based products including diesel, petrol, mineral oil, or hydraulic oil. Using this hose with petroleum-based media will cause the EPDM tube to swell, degrade, and fail. If you need a suction hose for petroleum products, contact United Flexible — we stock appropriate alternatives for hydrocarbon applications.
What does the polyethylene helix actually do?
It serves two purposes. First, it maintains the hose bore shape under vacuum, preventing the hose from collapsing during suction. Second, it protects the outer cover from wear when dragging the hose over rough ground — a common task on construction sites and dairy farms. The smooth profile of the helix also lets the hose slide more easily over rough surfaces and around corners compared to a smooth-cover hose.
Can I use Tiger Blue & Tiger Green for pressure delivery as well as suction?
Tigerflex EPDM is primarily designed for suction. It has a rated working pressure (see table above) but is not suited to sustained pressure delivery at that rating. For applications requiring regular pressure delivery, contact United Flexible to discuss a more appropriate product.
What agricultural and dairy applications is Tiger Blue/Tiger Green suited to in NZ?
Tigerflex EPDM is well suited to liquid fertiliser (fertigation) suction lines, liquid manure transfer, and effluent irrigation suction. Its EPDM tube is compatible with agricultural liquid fertilisers and animal effluent. It is not suitable for concentrated chemical products or petroleum-based agricultural sprays — confirm compatibility with your specific product before use.
What fittings are compatible with Tigerflex?
Tigerflex is compatible with any industrial hose fittings which fit to the hose using an internal hose tail matched to the hose bore size. Contact United Flexible with your bore size and connection requirements and we will recommend the appropriate fitting.
